Simba's Butt Kicker! has finally made the playoffs for the first time. 16 out of 20 teams have made the playoffs the last two years in our keeper league and he was 2 of the 4 teams that did not make the playoffs.

Yer X-MOM, while a league powerhouse, hopes to not get stuck losing to an underdog in the semifinals. He has had a number of set backs with R Brown (Mia) and S Slaton (Hou) placed on IR and D Bowe (KC) serving a 4 games suspension for using an illegal drug to help him keep weight off. Normally that drug is used in conjunction with steroids rather D Bowe has had weight problems. Yer X-MOM was hoping to employ a new strategy this year in Brothers Keeper in order to get past the Semifinals. S Slaton, R Brown, and D Bowe all had matchups Yer X-MOM hoped to exploit.

I interviewed CustodianPandimonium's owner R Smith by Gmail Chat yesterday. When asked what happened to his team this year he replied:
Westbrook was obviously a big bust for me, but other than that it is hard to say. Had a couple of games that I lost by less than 5 points, so that's just unfortunate. There were a few other injuries that got me as well, (most notably Welker in the first few weeks). And I admittedly goofed up by focusing on my wedding a couple of weeks and forgot/didn't get time to edit the lineup as much as I'd have liked to.

Going into the season I felt I had a really strong team based on a ridiculously good WR core. They couldn't stay consistent though. Steve Smith from the Giants started out just freaking amazing. And after that he went up and down, averaging around 10 or 11 points, not the 20ish he did previously. Vincent Jackson was real nice up through midseason too. But the last 4 or 5 weeks he's been garbage.
According to the players stats pages before week 13's playoffs, he has 5 of the top 16 WRs in total fantasy points. Pop Warner (Ari) , his QB, is ranked 10th overall while his top RB, K Smith (Det) is 16th overall in points scored. On a bright note, he's considering keeping the late season performer J Charles (KC) as a developmental for next season. Charles replaced L Johnson at RB in KC after L Johnson was released by the team... only later to be picked up by Cincinnati to help their injured RB C Benson. Charles, while ranking the 21st in points scored for the season among RBs has only been started one time this season by CustodianPandimonium. QB J Flacco (Bal) is also still eligible as a possible developmental player having only been started twice this season.

With the second pick overall in 2010's Brothers Keeper Fantasy Football Draft, R Smith is poised for a monster redemption. The League History would demonstrate this one fact: Keep Hope Alive: 2007's last place team was Junior Asparagus (D Kessler). Kessler promptly changed his name to PAIN in 2008 and won in an incredible playoff surge thanks in part to the first pick overall int he draft and a few hot waiver wire pick ups (e.g., RB P Thomas [NO]). Yer X-MOM (P Smith) was even defeated in that playoff success story and has taken note. Only Yank (J Smith) has had a similar turn around. He is currently poised as the number 1 playoff spot for 2009 after being the second to last place team in 2008... following his 2007 championship. If there is one thing Jerry knows... it's the roller coaster of life. There may be many ups and downs in this last playoff push, but one thing is set in stone: Kabuki Strikes Back (J Fullerton) and CustodianPandimonian are both eliminated from the status of Champion of 2009.

  1. Pete...Interesting site you've created with lots of links to go to. I must say you put some work into a place we can go into to voice opinions and suggestions from the research of many blogs and links. Good job in coming up with a site we can go to all year long.

You know I'll be the one who surprises everybody with the league championship this year. I hate to say it, but you and Jerry won't be in the mix this year...by not using Chris Johnson, look what you did. Your record is almost identical to my team in scoring points and the win-loss is just a one game difference. I could of done better sitting players and using others at the right time too. But, that is what makes the difference in winning and losing...right? Anyway, I have good running backs and a better team projected for the end of this year even if I get eliminated. Next year, I will dominate with one more good draft!

    Stix
